GUI Design
Agile Design Process
We at UFirst Group strongly believe that graphical user interfaces should be developed in collaboration with end users. In reality, end user involvement hardly ever happens in the design phase of a project. Our agile design process goes the other way. Our name is our mission: UFirst - User First.
Deliverables, Wireframes & HTML Prototyp
Our process entails short iterations over user personas and functional matrix to quickly dive into paper prototypes or wireframes. Depending on the complexity of the project we suggest already performing tests with potential users at this stage. The wireframes are the foundation for the following design work. They help visualize the overall scope of the project and clear up misunderstandings as early as possible. In most cases, wireframes are created in close collaboration with our clients.
The graphical design process starts after completion of the wireframes and sign-off of the first version of user personas und functional matrix. This is the first milestone in our process. Contrary to the waterfall approach, we revise these documents after the second milestone, the mockup prototype. Interaction design is also part of our graphical process. Our UX Designers will strictly follow your CI/CD guidelines. If your product does not have a CI/CD yet, we are more than happy to help you create one either ourselves or with the help of one of our partner agencies. Our claim is our belief: Make it beautiful, Make it easy to use.
Wireframes & HTML Prototypes in Practice
We have experienced that non-technical users can have difficulties abstracting between prototypes and actual software on a computer screen. We often recommend performing early testing using paper prototypes.
High-End HTML prototypes have led to very good results in our past projects. We create clickable prototypes according to either rapid or rich prototyping depending on your needs and planned effort and time. The test results are used as input into the further design process. We recommend multiple smaller tests to allow for faster implementation of the results. The user is the center of our attention and is the major stakeholder in this process. These tests ensure the user's voice is heard.
Intuitive User Guidance
We investigate and test visual user guidance in our graphical design phase. Our UX consultants also have the skills to analyze existing designs and adapt them to new requirements in collaboration with your standard agency. Changing designs and user guidance can have a strong influence on your revenue - especially in eCommerce. Our experience defining design strategies for some of the largest online shops in Europe certainly helps here. The same rules apply for the information architecture of your site. The right dosage of the right information at the right time is essential - be it in your intranet or online shop. And of course user input is valued as highly as it should be in this phase.
